Building Confidence, Strengthening Community and Inspiring Creativity.

At Avondale, we foster self-belief, promote curiosity and build resilience. We create this ethos and achieve these aims by providing a warm, happy, family atmosphere, which ensures all children are valued and cared for as individuals.

Building Confidence

Avondale is a supportive and nurturing environment, which is committed to understanding and embracing the character and strengths of each child.

“One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation.” -Arthur Ashe

From an early age we encourage pupils to develop real inner confidence and believe it is essential to provide an enriching and empowering environment where pupils are happy and comfortable to try new things.

We develop confidence and all-round ability through our ethos, that all children should have the opportunity to develop their unique talents and have the courage and confidence to try new things.  Every child, whatever their strengths, plays in a sports team, sings in a choir and speaks in front of others in our weekly class assemblies. This approach helps our pupils to build physical skills, self-esteem, confidence and respect for others. The range of extracurricular activities on offer, from music to drama, sport to art, reflects our approach that every child should have the opportunity to shine.

Leadership skills are encouraged throughout the school, particularly in sport, enrichment activities, music, drama and the House system. All pupils are allocated to one of three houses and house competitions allow pupils of all ages to work together and compete in various activities and events. Becoming a prefect marks the final stage in a process of developing confidence and learning responsibility before moving on to the senior school.

We recognise the unique value of all our children and focus on helping them to develop their talents and potential. We are more than a place of learning. We are a place of growth, discovery and celebration.

Strengthening Community

From the moment your child joins Avondale, they become an important part of our vibrant school community. As an extremely welcoming family school, we ensure every child has the individual support and best possible care throughout.

“One of the marvellous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn't as individuals.” – Jean Vanier

We encourage our children to be kind to others and to be kind to themselves so that Avondale is a place where children feel happy, cared for, and safe. From day one, all our children are very much a part of our school community. The younger children interact with the older pupils on a daily basis at assemblies, break times and during whole school activities.

The well-being of our pupils is of the utmost importance to us. We know that only happy pupils reach their full potential and perform well academically, so great care and support is given to ensure that all pupils have a positive experience and look forward to each day at Avondale.

As a small school, our staff get to know all our children as individuals and are therefore well-placed to identify any potential problems from the earliest years.  Our warm, kind and supportive atmosphere, combined with a respectful and inclusive attitude, creates pupils who are caring of each other and the wider community. At Avondale, we are more than a place of learning. We are a family.

Inspiring Creativity

Avondale aims to develop individual all-round achievement by providing a wide variety of opportunities, allowing children with varied interests to shine.

"You can't use up creativity. The more you use the more you have." - Maya Angelou
